Does your bathroom look like something out of “Tell me how it happened”? Then you’ll be looking forward to giving it a facelift. The best thing in these cases is to make a total reform of the bathroom, but this involves doing work and we are not always willing to do it.
The good news is that there are alternative solutions to completely renovate the bathroom without the need for a renovation.
In this post I will leave you several key ideas to modernize the bathroom and feel that you return to the XXI century.
Paint the tiles
Antique tiles greatly affect the overall appearance of the bathroom, since years ago the colors and designs used were very different.
Since the tiles occupy most of the surface it is important to renew their appearance. At this point is when we would consider making a reform, but there is an alternative: use enamel for tiles.
Enamel is a type of paint that adheres perfectly to the surface of the tile and withstands the humidity conditions of a bathroom.
Its application is very simple (you can see here how to paint the tiles step by step) and the result is fantastic.
The best thing about this system is that it is very economical and you get rid of making a reform in the bathroom.
Change the appearance of the soil
The walls should be the priority when reforming a bathroom, but the floor is also very important.
As with tiles, on the floor we also have solutions to change its appearance without having to replace it with a new one.
In fact, there are several alternatives:
- Paint for floors: as with tiles, we can give a coat of paint to our floor. It’s a quick and effective way to completely change your look.
- Vinyl floors: can be both tiles and vinyl slats. They are relatively simple to put on and you can opt for self-adhesive or click models. One of the advantages of this floor is that if you get tired of it you can remove it and you will get the original floor of your bathroom.
- Epoxy resin: in this process two layers of resin are applied (one for the color and one for the finish) and a completely smooth and renewed surface is achieved. You can choose a matte or glossy finish, but it has the drawback is that once you apply it will be difficult to return to your original floor.
Any of these options can be carried out on your own and will prevent you from having to lift the original floor to change its appearance.
Furniture
Have you recently passed through the furniture area of any decoration store? Currently there is furniture with an incredible appearance at totally affordable prices.
The next step you must follow to reform your bathroom is to replace the old furniture with more modern ones.
Change cabinets, shelves, mirrors and any other furniture you have in the bathroom.
Taps and sanitaryware
Along with the furniture should go a renovation of the taps and toilets. A new sink and faucet will greatly improve the overall appearance of the bathroom.
You can choose current models or look for a rustic or vintage style. It will depend on the type of decoration you want for your bathroom.
It is also a good time to change the toilet. Replacing the old toilet with a new one will renew the look. You can change it for a new toilet or make the jump to a recessed cistern.
And if the bathroom has a bidet it is a good time to remove it.

Lighting
Have you already made all the changes in the bathroom? It is the best time to make a change of bulbs. Check all the bulbs and replace them with LEDs.
This change is especially interesting when you have incandescent bulbs type R7S. It is common for this type of bulbs to have a power of 250 or 400 W.
With LED technology these bushings have a power of 9 or 15 W. The consumption is much lower!
In addition, LEDs let you choose between a cold, neutral or warm light. For the bathroom it is best to opt for a cold light, but I also recommend that you consider placing neutral lights.
Reforming your bathroom without doing work is possible. In this pot I wanted to show you all the steps you can follow, but depending on the state of your bathroom you will need to follow them all or only some.
If you are going to paint the tiles or the floor you will have to remove all the furniture from the bathroom. Take advantage of this moment to change furniture or toilets.
When you finish you will have a completely renovated bathroom without having to remove the tiles!
